Melissa Adams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas Christian University, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Nebraska. She received her formal life coach education from the Institute for Life Coach Training. Her additional divorce coach training was obtained through the Certified Divorce Coaching program (CDC).
While she has experience in providing life coaching for many areas, such as career balance, personal improvement, and assertiveness, Melissa found that she has a passion for helping families who experience divorce. She began to specialize her coaching services for divorcing families because she knows that divorcing families navigate that major life change much more successfully when they have a kind of 'personal assistant' guiding them along the way.
Melissa has over twenty years of experience in working with families in different times of transition, including divorce, remarriage and the blending of new families. When people go through those transitions, they often must learn new skills and abilities that they didn't expect they would ever need. Getting a personal divorce coach is an excellent way to get the education and skills necessary to make it through those transitions.
Melissa's mental health experience includes providing counseling for relationship difficulties, depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, anger management, behavior disorders, family addiction patterns, and recovery from abuse. Prior to working in the mental health and coaching fields, Melissa performed social work services in the areas of domestic violence, juvenile diversion, homelessness/near homelessness, community resources, and immigration matters.
Melissa personally grew up in a divorced and later blended family. She combines her professional knowledge and skills with her personal history to provide a unique perspective for families going through the sometimes difficult and painful process of divorce.
